Just watched this video on the #ThinkPad T480 laptop. Detailed and thorough. https://invidio.xamh.de/watch?v=A15FfeJq6pQ

@retroedgetech do you by any chance have t460s around ? If that's so, i have some questions about that machine. Bought it for my dad as a replacement for older t-model and i can't get it go to sleep/wakeup mode with Linux on it. Have not tried windows though. Suggestions ? Thoughts? :-) thank you !

@dammn I don't have a T460 or T460s on hand to check right now, but I have frequently worked with that series of laptops. Have you tried liveboot of different distros to see if the behavior is the same across distros?

@retroedgetech well I don't think that this is the distro problem. Seems more like a bios settings issue... Boot is also very slow. Laptop is in EU so can't do much at the moment :-).

@dammn If the boot is also really slow, if could be a flaky memory module. That could explain why it isn't going to sleep properly. Also, check the SMART status on the drive. If you don't have access to the machine, you might not be able to do much, but thought I'd reply with some suggestions anyway.

@retroedgetech well slow .. not as fast as my X1 :-) but the main thing which concerns me is the fact that I can't hibernate. Laptop is on another continent so I guess I am out of luck for now to handle anything with it for now. Dad uses it to watch sport channels so I guess shutting down is not a big of a deal. Anyway, thank you very much for replying ! Really appreciate your response.
