@dushnygik I don't push very hard to get new subscribers. I do have a substack email newsletter that has some subscribers and I could push email updates out to that to let people know about the videos I publish. I also post links to the videos from this account. Overall, I really like the #fediverse and #peertube.

@10leej #Debian is likely to get the most votes in your poll. I voted for #VoidLinux, but would have voted for #Devuan if it was an option. You could still choose Devuan as it is #Debian but with a different init system. I use #runit as my init scheme. Void also using runit. Whatever you choose, enjoy it. And let us know how it goes for you.

@enduser I may be able to help or point you in the right direction. What model do you have? What operating system are you using? ChromeOS or has it been #coreboot -ed ?

@enduser If you are running #VoidLinux, you may have to set up a NTP client like #chrony. I remember having to do something similar on my son's Artix installation. I forget the details. But essentially install chrony from the package manager and start it so it gets the time from a network server. Let me know if that helps.

@enduser@berserker.town @enduser@mastodon.online There probably is a solution without using an internet connection. I just don't know it off the top of my head.

I struggled with an Apache2 config and SSL LetsEncrypt certificate today. Website launch was not going well for me. Eventually got it sorted out with the help of the former SysAdmin. I keep learning and getting better, but it is challenging.

@ShariVegas Agreed. Because that's the way they've always done it. I'm stepping into managing a group of servers where the last SysAdmin has been there for over two decades. There are a lot of things that have just been done that way for years and stayed the same. I have to stay with that until I really know what I am doing and then make good decisions for the good of the company in the long term, not just what I prefer.

@dem32 I was using certbot, it was the apache2 configuration that I had wrong. I'm learning and getting better. That is a mistake that I likely won't make again.

@10leej Agreed. This is for a company in which I am doing things "the way they've always been done" until I know more of what I'm doing so that I can make good decisions on what to change. I was using certbot, but the preference of the previous SysAdmin was to not allow certbot to edit the Apache configuration, but to handle that manually. However, the template that I thought was the correct one for the Apache2 configuration ended up being and outdated template. I'm learning and getting better. My preference would be to not use apache2 either. My son uses nginx a lot. It seems that there are a lot of great options for web servers. Caddy2 looks interesting, as it makes handling LetsEncrypt certs even easier and may be significantly better in performance.

Just upgraded an HP ENVY desktop computer with a Solid State Drive and increased the memory to 16GB. HP is a frequent offender of the mismatched memory modules. It had an 8GB and a 4GB memory module, so couldn't take advantage of dual-channel memory. Replaced the 4GB with an 8GB module. That should make a difference. Of course, the big upgrade was going from a slow hard drive to an SSD. This machine already had an Intel i7-4770 processor, which is great for the owner as they do light web browsing and documents. So this will be a good upgrade for them and allow them to use it for at least another three years without having to purchase a replacement machine.

@SirBemrose I saw this with a customer within the last month too. First time I had come across that problem... and I am sure it won't be the last.

@northern_dude @Evv1L @Coyote Yes, the #ThinkPad T420 is a cable laptop (depending on your needs). Still runs Windows 10 Pro on it well, but I recommend upgrading to 16GB memory and an SSD. Of course, it will work much better with #linux or #bsd, which is what I assume you will be using.
