@PunishedD I just think they're over compensating for being the origin of COVID again. They were kinda praised by globohomo for their brutality. @crunklord420 They weren't just praised, they were the blueprint. The CDC adopted lockdowns, against the standing science at the time, because China was doing it. They treated it as a droplet borne virus instead of airborne because that's how China treated it.This garbage only works if you can contain the outbreak before it spreads at all. Maybe China thinks they're in a position to do that.

@crunklord420 so far no one has died from corona but there are multiple cases of people dying from lockdown policies.- a baby was was forced to be sent to an infant quarantine facility that lacks staff without parents accompanying. the kid died and the mother committed suicide.- a woman with chronic diseases was forced to be sent to a Fangcang hospital despite resist from the husband. the husband was arrested and the woman died shortly after that as she choked from mucus in her trachea and no one was available to help. they cremated her without permission from her family.- not Shanghai, but a doctor was arrested and put on trial for 7 days straight because he performed surgery on a patient who has been tested positive. he was given a heavy sentence and they accused him of causing the city to lose billions of yuan, so he committed suicide.- not a person, but a dog owner was taken to the Fangcang hospital and the dog wanted to follow him. the dog was immediately beaten to death.a lot more similar things are happening and they are extremely under-reported. it shocked the entire Chinese community since Shanghai is considered the most developed, modern, and westernized city in China where you could even hear people chanting for freedom during the lockdown, yet atrocities like this still took place. it is a bad (also cringe) comparison but Chineses' reaction toward Shanghai resembles the international reaction toward Ukraine: how could this happen in such a civilized place?

I always chalked it up to Euro's being better at fighting cold/flu viruses since the Black Plague pretty much killed all Europeans who were didn't have strong immune systems. And even now after hundreds of years the black plague is a much worse virus than even Corona virus

@crunklord420 My Chinese fedi is either people living in Taiwan/Hong Kong or abroad but have close ties to mainland. There are probably some mainlanders but my Chinese instance is a BL community so I think they block instances that are directly hosted in mainland.Regardless, yeah PRC doesn't even care if u use twitter. As long as you don't say something that will damage your social credit score it's fine. There's many mainlanders that use alternative tech not native to China.

@D-Droid @crunklord420 In the West, our governments have adopted a "fuck it, I give up" policy towards COVID, which means we're now constantly exposed to the virus. As a result, our immune systems are better prepared to resist it, giving us something similar to "herd immunity". China, on the other hand, is still on a "zero COVID" policy so whenever there's an outbreak, they'll be playing endless whack-a-mole. They'll either eventually give up or be like that forever, because COVID isn't going away.
