Ugh! I hate US taxes. The instructions are too vague and almost undecipherable.

@redeagle I’d happily do my own taxes and pay what you fold in the US pay. UK tax 😳

@kev @redeagle I interpreted what @redeagle said as "the tax regulations are vague and undeciperable", not "I pay too much taxes".I also laud @redeagle for actually understanding how to come to the bottom line (taxes owed) and not just accepting the output of an opaque program. In Canada I expect it's not as opaque, but it's getting more and more opaque. When I started doing taxes, it was a bit complicated, then got simpler, but now getting more complicated again (as the years go by).

@bjb yeah, I understood, but i probably wasn’t clear with my comment. What I meant was I’d happily take on the convoluted nature of managing my own taxes if it meant I pay less.Apologies if the implication of my comment was that @redeagle shouldn’t complain, that wasn’t my intention. On the contrary, I was the one having a good old moan about taxes in the UK. 😊

@bjb @kev Yeah. I don't care about paying taxes. I just want them to be easier. The IRS knows what's owed, but I'm still expected to gather all this paperwork and figure out if I get the same number as they do.And companies are supposed to send you the forms they are reporting, but they don't always. So I spend hours hunting those down, then hours more making sure I get the instructions right (I probably don't).I can't say I really understand it, but I'm pretty sure I did it right enough.

@redeagle @bjb @kev I don't find this to be a problem at all. It seems like every place I need a document from, I have a log in to and I get it there. With regards to @kev, we pay 12% at year end, plus 10% with purchases. I imagine that's fairly minimal compared to the UK

@MrDers it is. The amount of tax we pay in the UK is tied to the amount we earn. I pay 60% on some parts of my salary. That’s a small chunk of my salary though, the main chunk is 40%.@redeagle @bjb
