If you're a creator on here, what's your primary means of collecting funds/handling subscriptions? Doing some ad-hoc research. Please boost to maybe even help someone else looking for options!

@maloki It depends on circumstances. Are the payers mostly in one region, or worldwide? In Europe: SEPA transfers. In the US, France, UK, possibly Canada: paper checks. Cryptocurrency is of course a global option but often hard to obtain in a privacy-respecting way (although that's not the recipient’s problem). Despiration is also a factor - do you need to trade ethics for max revenue?

@koherecoWatchdog @maloki one of my basic principles is that donations are about the donor's comfort and preferences not my own. Just like political organizing or any other "call to action." Monthly payments also reduce transaction costs (it costs time and concentration to remember when you last donated to your favourite webcomic and how much).

@bookandswordblog @maloki That's backwards. If you are a non-profit org then there are principles attached to your mission. It's a hypocrisy for an org to operate in a way that contradicts their mission. You can assume that your supporters support your mission. Going against your own mission on the basis that a supporter would sponsor you going against your own mission is absurd.

@maloki It’s particularly quite repulsive how privacy orgs are happy to accept Paypal and various Cloudflare-MitM'd services, selling out the very platform they stand on.

@maloki @bookandswordblog I actually refuse to donate to privacy orgs that accept #Paypal or any of the Cloudflare platforms because it reflects that they will sell out for money, even if one of the payment methods is compatible with their mission.
