       I have this kinda irrational affection for the drag racers in my city. When I hear them vrooming around at 3 AM, I'm kinda like "hell yeah" even though it's maybe not exactly the best activity for collective upliftI like how they find the least-pedestrianed streets at the least crowded times, and have a set schedule so everyone in the neighborhood knows to avoid those streets for two hours on tuesday or whatever.        @oya@ubuntu.buzz oh yeah we want a proper race with no interference. the long straight roads with plenty of room to stop and no intersections 🥺lately i've been hooning it up in un-built residential neighborhoods that have zero finished houses. they haven't even broke ground in a few of them, so it's nothing but (dusty) roads.we trade POIs in our map software of the safest spots in town.the car community showing a modicum of respect is one aspect i try to exemplify. all of my junk is quiet and won't wake the baby even at full rip. no hooning in traffic! i don't mind getting in to trouble but i refuse to put someone else in danger. i take many influences from the Japanese car culture, they are extremely respectful.i wish it were as easy as "save it for the track", because there isn't a track to save it for. at best, there's cones in a parking lot, and that requires permission and at that point it's a whole shindig..
