       The Senate of Romania just passed a new law that forces all internet and telecom providers to record all encrypted and un-ecrypted traffic, on their cost, and also provide a way for the Romanian Intelligence Service to extract the data "as needed".The new 100 page law was provided for review 10 minutes before the session and it was passed after 30 minutes of "debate".        The good news is the fact that the law will be challenged at the Constitutional Court of Romania and probably it will never be applied.Experts say it has many issues, but the most obvious one is that they've used words that don't exist in the Romanian language.They've probably used #GoogleTranslate to get the translation for "encrypted" and they got a word that doesn't exist in our language: "cripat".Thank you #Google, #DoNotBeEvil

       @wolf480pl @walter AFAIK US does not have data retention laws, it's just that AT&T is an evil company who will sell out their customers for a nickle.

       @walter who is the telcom provider in they eyes of the law in Romania? Recently i heard from my lawyer that telcom's arent just anyone providing services on internet so most libre/fedi hosters arent consider telcoms (at least not in nl).

       @wolf480pl @walter Yes, because AT&T doesn't care about their customers' privacy and the NSA offers them money. Probably also threatens to call the IRS and have them audited if they don't play ball, this is a thing.
