So this is weird. torrent files were opening fine on the pinebook for the last year, and suddenly no matter what torrent file I try to open Transmission tells me it's an invalid or corrupt torrent file.Any ideas?

@Ricardus I've had similar recently where transmission has thrown this error a handful of times but it's been fine most of the time.I put it down to the creator of the torrent file being the same person and did something weird that transmission didn't like but I can't say for sure. It only happened a few of times and I didn't investigate much further. I should check my logs to see if it's happening more often.

@Ricardus there is many, many ways to get Transmission. And each of them has varying versions/patches/compile flags. Did you get it on your OS repo ? If yes what is your distribution ? From what repo ? If flatpak from what remote ? If from source from what git ? Maybe the version you use is lagging behind, or has a new regression that will be fixed at next update. Or maybe it’s the OS that filter network and the error you get is a generic response to not being able to get basic data, etc… :)

@df5t0rw I'm running Manjaro on a pinebook. The system did a big update a few days ago. Not even sure what packages it upgraded but lots. Prior to that update it was working fine.I suspected the update but there's lots of moving parts there. My much older linux box running Ubuntu 16 processed the torrents with no issues.

@Ricardus could be that it doesn't support version 2 torrent files.

@wlsn I went and tried to grab some torrents from last week, and it did the same. It was really late so I only tried about 4 or 5 but they all kicked out that error.

@Ricardus Yeah Manjaro is nice and all but... they use heavy set of patches toward an ever-faster moving target that is Archlinux. So it breaks often. But the community around manjaro is so large they fix stuff really fast. Maybe try to use the flatpak version until the repo version is fixed.

@df5t0rw I'm not going to do anything so bold. I'll just wait until the next major update and see what happens. I can use one of my other machines to BitTorrent for now

@df5t0rw Looks like the Transmission Devs know they broke the program with the latest 3.00-3 release. Hopefully a fix is on the way.
