So, since it got attention during my post asking about possible future projects, what thoughts does everyone have about a tagging image gallery with Fedi support?What I'm basically thinking of is a tagging image gallery in the same vein as Piwigo or Danbooru. However, when you post new things it packages them into a post (or series of posts).It would also be trivial to make one of these post every hour accounts on a specific gallery tag.I'm not sure if this should be more user oriented.

Does something like this sound like a good idea?Can you think of anything that might go horribly wrong?Is there other software that can already pretty much do this?Would it be better to have isolated individual user galleries on an instance instead of one big instance-wide gallery?

@urusan a feature like a real-time event gallery looks like a fun one to have. Think it's it like a stream of photos of an event happening right now.

@urusan I think Meetup has(had?) something like this.You turn the event mode on (maybe defining a time to turn it off automatically) and after that everything you post is being added to the same gallery.It could be represented as a thread and simultaneously could be used to update the gallery page for everybody viewing it in a real time.This could be used on events like conferences, concerts, etc.

@urusan I'd be really interested in something like this with support for tag wrangling.(Partly because if people ever used hashtags here I'd like to see some tag wrangling done.)But exactly how to make tagwrangles work in a distributed way has both trust issues (people trying to get everyone to look at stuff they'd rather not) and culture issues (the same tag may wrangle to completely different sets of tags depending on instance/community.)

@urusan It's a way of merging the folksonomy together. The term comes from AO3. Basically, people will not that (as a trivial and cliched example) some people will use KirkSlashSpock and others will use KirkXSpock or some will use SpockAndKirk to mean the same thing and merge them.

@Azure Makes sense.I know that Danbooru does this through moderation and tag linking. It also recommends tags as you type them, making the correct tags easy to find.Tags also have what's essentially a wiki page explaining them, though many are stubs.
