@paul i went vim -> emacs -> vim. the defaults are just much better for my carpal tunnel hands (but i added the ctrl+a and ctrl+e from emacs for insert mode)

@mrufrufin for me I realized I was poorly using emacs as vim+, with '+' parts yielding diminishing returns.Vim defaults are nice. I like a tiny vimrc.

I'm curious, @paul, what bout orgmode/literate programming combo? Any decent replacement in sight?

@djiamnot I wrote my own org tangler for my literate programs which is both portable and several orders faster than emacs org-tangle:https://pbat.ch/wiki/worgle/Worgle also has the ability to export programs to my wiki engine, which is how I weave stuff to HTML and put them on my website:https://pbat.ch/wiki/weewiki/As for org-mode itself, there seems to be a few vim org mode plugins with various levels of functionality. I'm giving this one a go, even though it's unmaintained: https://github.com/jceb/vim-orgmode

@paul @djiamnot i ended up on kakoune and haven't started emacs in a while. though that's mostly because i use multiselect/multicaret a lot when writing, even though stuff like swiper is nicer for reading.fediblobs sent me this earlier http://heirloom.sourceforge.net/ which is an interesting pipeline to get PDFs. (well, you have to combine it with ghostscript to turn the postscript in to a pdf)
