Ukraine is a real country where millions of actual people live. It is not an "empty no man's land" somewhere in-between "the West" and "Russia".All of Russia's rhetoric is as if the world consisted of only Russia and the US (maybe China too). Everyone else is just "territories".It feels weird and angry to be in this situation when whether your country will continue to exist is being decided by other people. In the same time I feel lucky we're close to Europe and thus more...relevant?Ugh.

@setthemfree @Mac_CZ To be frank, the fate of Ukraine was decided by its citizens and nobody else. When the Soviet empire fell, Ukraine was richer than Russia. It had better starting conditions. But now an average Russian is 3 times richer than an average Ukrainian. If Ukraine had 3 times better economy, it could afford a 3 times better army. It's as simple as that. The absolute and utter failure of Ukrainians to build their own country is the main reason for what is happening to them now.

@setthemfree Russia has used Ukraine as a buffer for a long time. They won't stop unless forced.
