How do you know it was really written by a white Western man? Niemöller could have borrowed from a woman or a Jewish man. There was a lot of appropriation and "borrowing" going around at that time. Niemöller himself has been borrowed and paraphrased by every group imaginable, but somehow it's not OK for TERFS? Interesting reactions. Very interesting.

Again, you fail to understand. Not saying it's not OK for TERFS. Unless you can prove that Niemöller ripped it off someone and the poet he ripped off was equal or better than Niemöller then this is a silly objection.But I have been in discussions with some feminists whose main objections to art or cultural products was that they were produced by a man and I'm just saying that really doesn't work.

I am trying to highlight incongruence and inconsistency. Earlier today a poster on here was saying a TV show was invalid simply because it was directed by a man. She hadn't seen it but everybody who liked it was a cultist...Then another poster posts a rip off of the famous Pastor Niemöller poem "First they came..." So what is it, is everything produced by men bad? Is it positive and feminist to bowdlerise a famous poem produced in a completely different and personal context?How should feminists be addressing "cultural artefacts" produced by men?Those are the issues I am seeking to raise.[BTW, why is devil's advocate male BS? It is a perfectly legitimate way of testing the soundness of any idea...]
