       @urusan our atmosphere protects it already but you can always improve that protection with dense mass like fire safe, yeah. DRAM is more susceptible to corruption due to cosmic radiation though.

       @urusan Could be worse: if the proton or atomic nucleus that’s what cosmic “rays” are has a collision with the fire safe’s material, a lot of secondary particles will result and cause more havoc than what it would have done without them.I think; I’m going from what humans have to do to survive outside the van Allen belts, either no armor and luck, or serious shielding when there’s a solar flare etc.  See Heinlein’s Podkayne of Mars for a 1962-3 SF illustration of this, and that’s why the Nixon administration canceled the last Apollo missions, the program had been delayed enough the solar cycle was changing to the active phase.
