Am I the only terminal-lover dude who thinks #Mutt is much easier than #Alpine to use for email? I still can't get alpine to work, while #mutt is all automated...

Though if I have to use a graphical email client, today I 100% go for #ClawsMail.Lightest and most fully-functional desktop client out there (thanks plugin library with PGP support!)Thankfully, it's the client that comes by default in #PuppyLinux!

@huy_ngo sorry for asking, but what are the new features and stuff that should make it better than mutt? My muttrc fails with it, so I never really gave it a real try...

@kzimmermann I just was recommended neomutt so I went with it. Didn't actually compare them, but you're right, the config seem to be incompatible.

@kzimmermann I've only tested it in a vm, but you could try @PyreneeLinux's conversion utility: https://gitlab.com/pyrenee-linux/pyrenee-linuxInstall instructions: wget cutt.ly/start-pyreneeash start-pyreneeAnd it should set it all up for ya. Not all theme is properly applied the way I want and audio is probably something I wanna look at. But you'll end up with a functional Lumina Desktop 🙂

@kzimmermannMutt is pretty nice and THE client in-system messaging in admin.E-mail for personal communication is done. Gone forever.

@fabrixxm yes, I'm a big fan of the other Alpine:https://tilde.town/~kzimmermann/articles/alpine_linux_desktop.html

@fedops well, I didn't read much of the manual before jumping into it (first time I tried it was in the #tildetown server), so sorta gave up. But was surprised to discover afterwards that for many, Alpine is their first stop for email on the command-line.

@kzimmermann there really isn't much to it. Set your server address (if not local) plus protocol, and you're basically off to the races if your IMAP server is mostly standard. There are literally hundreds of additional settings, but they are optional and the reason the program is so well liked. Not saying it's better than mutt. It's like emacs vs. vi - a matter of preference more than anything else.

@jiminycricket looks interesting, if anything, it looks like an easier entry to the world of terminal-mail than the others. But I find mutt quite comfy hehe

@fedops absolutely. I'd probably have liked it quite well if it had been my first terminal client, but as it is right now, I'm pretty much in love with mutt

@kzimmermann @fedops Good to know. I may enter into the world terminal email clients soon. I haven't yet tried. I use email a lot for my small business and have just used Thunderbird for years. It works well, but I want to explore other options.
