Some of my colleagues have been fawning over Harry Potter for the past few days and I'm considering sending them something sweet and instructive on how JKR spouts hate speech.I'm assuming they don't follow her stuff at all, and I've seen them be very ignorant of all things trans but definitely not actively bad, so I really want this to be in good faith and not "attacking" them for liking something dear to them, nor assuming they know what a TERF is / how to interpret her dogwhistles.Do you know of a good recap I could use?

@lexane You can't cancel Harry Potter because her writer is a piece of garbage. As long as Harry Potter itself is not transphobic, there's no reason to be toxic about it. Let your friends enjoy it, but tell them what her author is.https://www.wildcat.arizona.edu/article/2020/12/o-cancel-artists

@avalos I think we agree, that's exactly what I'm trying to do with making sure they don't conflate JKR and her writings without ruining their experience of Harry Potter (although it certainly has ruined my experience to be reminded daily that someone who wants to harm my friends and myself is so popular and loved)

@avalos @lexane Valid. Equally valid to not want to be part of the statistics she uses for self-aggrandizement. I can see these friends reacting either way.
