I hate the the GDPR has made cookie dialogs so obnoxious, and most sites only allow you to get them out of the way with an "Accept All" button if you don't want to read through everything

@brainblasted this is not due to #GDPR, this is because all of these sites want to track you, which is illegal without "consent". No banners are needed for just essential cookies.

@brainblasted Also IANAL but I don't believe that an 'accept all cookies' button actually complies with GDPR.@maikek

@strypey not if it is either the only one ore more prominent than other choices. But unfortunately what @brainblasted says about cookie banners behaviour is mostly true. Only that this is not the fault of GDPR regulations.

@maikek > not the fault of GDPR regulations.I agree with this and also with what you said in the comment I was replying to. I assume the datafarming industry has been driving a heavy PR backlash against GDPR since it was proposed. I see the dark pattern of annoying cookie messages as part of that effort.@brainblasted

@strypey Astonishing how these dark patterns now are regarded as the new normal. Even people who don't use any cookies or tracking on their website believe they have to implement such a banner, using prefabricated ones and often introducing said tracking in doing so 😕.
