@pyre35 The KDE version might be a bit kinder to your hardware, without sacrificing all the functionality you’d expect from a full desktop environment.Compiling browsers from scratch is pain, using the binaries from a trusted source is a good plan on weaker hardware.

@seven should I try the full KDE or do the LTS or minimal?

@seven I'm thinking minimal because honestly way too many pre-installed applications in the full GNOME version

@pyre35 So if you hit https://manjaro.org/downloads/official/kde/ I would go with full... The difference in infrastructure from gnome to kde is like night and day, in terms of how much boaty applications are installed. But that's my personal opinion.

@pyre35 Sure thing, feel free to hit me up if you have any questions, much like everything it takes a second to get acclimated, sometimes there, it's as simple as just knowing what a thing is called. ;)

@seven will do! I'm testing it on my "new" laptop and if I like it I'd love to dual-boot on my current linux machine. Plenty of space and power on this one. the other one, not so much :)

@pyre35 Yeah it's even more impressive with decent hardware, but you would be shocked how must less resources the plasma takes compared to most and especially gnome... It would be funny if it wasn't actually sad. Yet fully featured with everything you could need out of the box. If you are into gui package management, I recommend octopi over pamac (I believe the KDE offical uses octopi anyways, but if not, I would get that pronto). Also if you have a matrix account somewhere you can always chat me up about it, I'm generally always around: @seven:panthermoderns.org

@seven funny you mention that... I just got element on my phone. You can chat between element and matrix right? that might be a stupid question...
