Time wasn't meant to change twice a year.Also, it definitely isn't meant to be permanently out of sync with the sun by an hour.

@urusan Yea, I don't see how being dark an hour earlier is helping me. I don't start until 10 am... so... It's not better.

@urusan Yeah. Though I'll admit the main reason I prefer 'Kill DST' to the 'Always DST Forever' is that I just don't wake up that early and so if I'm going to have more darkness, I'd rather have it in the early evening when I can enjoy it.

@randynose Businesses and schools and such should change their hours.Having a wider variety of opening times would be beneficial because it would reduce rush hour traffic, give people more choices about what hours to work, spread out when people can go run errands, etc.The only group that might have issues are parents of school-aged children who have a school that disagrees with their work, but we should just improve support for this group rather than messing with time.

@urusan Agreed. I did some work for a place that wouldn't allow for ANY deviation from their time schedule. - Traffic Sucked getting in and out of their facilities. - Totally stupid.

@randynose I guess there's also a short/medium term transition group that would also have issues, where their current work disagrees with their preferences (though this is true of either of the proposed changes, it would just change who that group is).Eventually though, decisions about preferred schedule would be part of the job/career selection process, and people unwilling to work crazy hours (for them) wouldn't have selected jobs that were intolerably bad for them.

@randynose That really must have sucked.Back in the before times, I had to get in by 9 with no later deviation allowed (at least on paper), but morning people would start between 6-8 and leave by 3-4. Even so, the traffic to get in just before 9 was a huge mess, so having zero deviation at all must really be a nightmare.Also, the 4-6 rush hour traffic for my city was so bad that I just waited until nearly 6 to leave and just spent more time in the office, which I'm sure my employer loved.

@urusan It was a temp Win 7 upgrade gig... So, it didn't last forever, but it was about 6 months or so.. But yea, the place was really old-school with their thinking at times.

@urusan @randynose Totally agree. Summer and Winter hours determined by workplace and schools, with flexibility on a case basis, makes way more sense. In general, we (humans everywhere) should discuss the 40 hour/ five 8 hour days work week and alternatives.

@urusan @randynose I'd love it if some businesses changed their hours to not be during school/work times...I mean I guess it would suck for the people working there though... Just sucks having to use up sick/personal time for doctors appointments, instead of like, when I'm actually needing it for mental health.

@gaurdianaq Well, the thing is that if business A, B, and C are initially 9am to 5pm, and A shifts to 7am to 3pm, while C shifts to 11am to 7pm, then everyone would have some window to visit the other 2 businesses.Business A employees could visit B&C from 3pm to 5pm and C until 7pm.Business B employees could visit A from 7am to 9am and C from 5pm to 7pmBusiness C employees could visit A from 7am to 11am, and B from 9am to 11am.
