I wonder how I'd feel reading an Asimov story today. I don't think I've touched one since I was a teenager, but I also read and re-read Forward the Foundation like 4 times senior year in high school.

@srol I reread all the Foundation books recently.I feel like the original three stood the test of time best. I'm not entirely sure why, though I think it might be because they were most solidly their own thing rather than trying to weave the Robot stories together with the Empire stories.

In the late 90s, they did a continuation of Foundation with three new authors. Here's what I remember about those books.* The first one by Gregory Benford has a lengthy author's note where he said he was replacing "hyperspace" with "wormholes" because they were more scientifically plausible.* The plot of that book was alarmingly similar to the MST3k-skewered film Overdrawn at the Memory Bank.* The second novel (published 1998) first introduced me to the word "meme"That's all I remember.

I'm thinking now about a lot of science fiction I read as a teen. Do they still do Kzin anthologies?

Man-Kzin Wars are like the ultimate in hyper-macho military sf written by neoconservative war hawks, but I was drawn to them as a teen because ... well ... can you guess why?
