Think I’m gonna give Pixel 6 a try. It’s likely way too big, so I may cancel before it ships if I can get hands on before then. But I’m intrigued by the new cameras, especially when it comes to video. Also strongly considering dbrand skins to make a stormtrooper model.

@cassidyjames I was a little concerned about the size too, but I really liked my Pixel 2 XL, and the Pixel 6 Pro is not significantly bigger. I have an order in for a Pixel 6 Pro, and I'm super anxious to get it.

@mike ha, I thought the original Pixel display was on the big side when it came out, and every “smaller” model has gotten bigger and bigger since. I do want to get hands on at a store; if they aren’t significantly different (e.g. both feel way too big to me), I might consider the Pro for the tele lens.Or I should just break down and get an iPhone Mini. 😭

@cassidyjames I have the Pixel 5 right now, and it's always felt super tiny to me. I broke the screen maybe two months after I got it and skimped on the protection plan, so I'm on the market for a new phone. I was going back and forth between the standard Pixel 6 and the Pro, but that 4x optical is hard to miss.

@mike ha, I begrudgingly have the Pixel 5 and its screen is bigger than my Pixel 3, which was bigger than my Pixel 2 and Pixel 1, which was bigger than my Nexus 5, which was bigger than my Moto X… etc.I just want a tiny phone, again.

@lucas @cassidyjames I have an old iPhone 3GS (the last iPhone I subjected myself to), and I can't imagine using a screen that tiny ever again. I'm pretty confident I'll like the Pixel 6 Pro. I have a PinePhone too, and the dimensions of the PinePhone and the Pixel 6 Pro are pretty similar. The Pixel 6 Pro has a much nicer screen and the bezel sizes are significantly smaller, so I'll get more out of those dimensions.

@mike @cassidyjames I'm enjoying it a lot. If screen "feeling" ever bothers you, like say a deep scratch, for sure not for you lol. The crease is the most noticeable by feel vs sight in my opinion. The perks outweigh the negatives so far.

@cassidyjames @mike I'm divided. On the one hand I want a shorter/smaller phone, but on the other hand; I usually only use my phone for various media consumption (watching videos, playing games, scrolling through the Fediverse, or reading websites), most calls I do can be done over speakerphone or I wouldn't mind carrying a headset (or are video calls aka speaker calls already). In other words iPad Mini 6 as a phone? :thonking: :thaenkin:

@RyuKurisu I'm kinda the same way, but I used to have an old Nexus 7 I used for media consumption, but a mini-tablet is almost useless compared to a modern smart phone with the screens we have these days. Personally, I'd stick to the phone, but your mileage may vary.@cassidyjames

@mike @cassidyjames yeah, true. But afaik is the iPad Mini in a class of its own in the tablet world, basically a bigger iPhone without a notch 🤔
