@truth_seeker McConnell is allowing the Dems an additional two months - a short term debt limit increase, until December.The terms are the same. The Dems still have to raise the debt ceiling on their own, with no Republican votes. But it defuses the immediate concerns about default. 1/2

@truth_seeker Also, there were threats to 'carve out' a filibuster, that is use the filibuster once to raise the debt ceiling. Manchin said No, but the Dems were planning on causing a fake crisis and panic which might have pressure even Manchin and Sinema. That had to be avoided, even though the chances were small and it removes the filibuster issue from the news again, which is a positive development2/3

@truth_seeker Passage of time always works against a Bill being passed in anything like its original form and at times against passage at all.The Dems are under enormous pressure. Next year looks very bad for them. Their plans for record spending and tax cuts are providing plenty of campaign material for the GOP, even without a passed Bill. Just the plans.4/5

@truth_seeker The Dems definitely do not want the public to know about the cost and the details.Pelosi's notorious comments about Obamacare - we will know the details of the Bill only after passage - is key to the Democrats' fears about all of the publicity surrounding these massive Bills. The Parliamentarian has to approve each item, line line by line.They are still trying to minimize the amount, but they have failed entirely.
