@rysiek @bortzmeyer i recently watched a video about Intel vs AMD that more or less dismissed AMD as a significant player in the CPU market due to the small net worth of AMD compared to Intel, grossly neglecting how much of an influence AMD has actually had, and completely ignoring how Intel screwed up the 32- to 64-bit transition and AMD got to define it instead, and numerous other things.

@bortzmeyer @rysiek the same video also ignored how AMD has had a 40% market share twice. it had a bad run for years, but now it, together with ARM, is posing a significant threat to Intel.

@bortzmeyer @rysiek from a techie viewpoint, AMD is the Pepsi of CPU makers. and i believe this guy did do a video on Coke vs Pepsi where he did give Pepsi due attention.

@bortzmeyer @rysiek what i think happened is that the guy was able to grok non-tech companies, because what’s so hard to understand about, say, burgers, groceries and toys? most people can grasp those things. tech, however, is engineering. i mean, this is why John Scully, who previously sold sugar water, was such a disaster for Apple…
