@TerryHancock the interesting bit about this one is that you can walk the earth, entirely unaware that it refers to wind in that case, and still understand what is meant. like i did for many years.

@Algot i was going to mention the “hot air” thingthese idioms are far less common - it makes more sense to assume it’s about things that turn, or curve, like a road, since a road is long.

@Algot the Beatles song says “The Long and Winding Road” and until i knew that long-winded is different, i assumed it was talking about things that take too much time.i didn’t assume it had to be about someone speaking for that reason. i thought something like a process or project could be “long-winded”

you want to rub his belly, but try doing that, and the answer is claws. lots of claws. why does he show you his belly if he doesn’t want you to rub it? only the gods know the answer to that, because if one thing is for sure: if a cat shows his belly, he does NOT want you to rub it.sometimes i do, still. my hand suffers from it. scratched up by claws.
