Wow there are quite a few desktop clients for Matrix.Can anyone recommend a good one, and why they use it please?

@ChrisWere Happy with using https://app.element.io in the browser. A couple I tested were hideous and some other(s?) were just electron.

@ChrisWere I just Element as it supports all thé features of Matrix. But it feels really bloated compared to native XMPP clients ^^

@livestradamus It seems I've had better luck with the few that I've tried, but every one so far lack features. Which isn't necessarily a problem, since I'm a pretty light Matrix user.

@Arco Yeah, I know what you mean. It feels especially bloated if you're just a light user of it, such as myself.

@ChrisWere I mostly use revolution (Element fork with custom emotes support and some extra features)Mirage is also good. Looks cool, does most of the things I need and has keyboard shortcuts for everything

@ChrisWere I think Cinny.in is a uppercomer. It's updating fast, responsive for a webclient and seems to be replacing discord.There is no installable app, but you could install the webclient as an app using the linux mint thing.Personally I hope Neochat gets some improvement as it's the only native C++ thing

@ChrisWere I use Element even though it might be a bit bloated Matrix in general has some hurdles to overcome.But you should keep an eye out for Spectral it isnt an electron based client: https://gitlab.com/spectral-im/spectral

@ChrisWere @hankg I also just use the web version of Element (and also Mastodon), but as a 'web app' from my desktop by using the 'Install Website as App' thing from my browser. (not sure if this still exists in Firefox anymore)
