wish Firefox had more forks like Chromium does. or really have Waterfox not be owned by System1. Waterfox looka interesting

@norm@misskey.biribiri.dev yeaah :ohgno:meant up to date ones, even if some don't like quantum. maybe even try to unmantle the engine from firefox's first party interface like what you can see with chromium, if it is possible, not sure

@vib There's also Pale Moon, IceCat, and LibreWolf.

@vib librewolf is the only one I use but it doesn't provide much I couldn't get by tweaking Firefox settings

@brad@weeaboo.space Pale Moon is based on the old engine, IceCat uh won't be too useful to most users and LibreWolf wasn't too nice and polished last time I tried it.would be nice to have a fork that isn't so privacy enhanced to the point of disabling js or not keeping browser history or cookies on restart yet not be Mozilla's and having their telemetry and stuff off. Waterfox would fit well in this but being owned by System1 raises my eyebrow.

@vib IceCat isn't too bad after you disable some of the default addons like LibreJS. I'm on a distro that won't package regular Firefox, so IceCat was my main browser for a couple years or so. I'm using qutebrowser now, though. If you just want minimal changes to the normal Firefox, can't you make a file like config.js (I thought I heard of something like that) to apply your changes all at once and just maintain that file?
