@MzTash The wisdom that comes with it. But it’s a double edged sword because I’ll look back at my 20’s and think “how could I be so STUPID?!” Especially when it comes to how I viewed and interacted with men.

@Nora I absolutely loathe the physical aspect of getting older. As things are, I’m doing my damndest to delay that as much as I can. I don’t think the good things (like knowing more) are the result of being older as such, but just a function of having had more time to learn things. If I could have that without the getting physically older bit, I absolutely would. @MzTash

@Gnomeshatecheese @MzTash Yes, all of this. Getting older also involves a fair amount of forgetting, and losing memory capacity. Maybe that's why I feel like I was more learned 10 years ago!

@Maud_Gonner @MzTash For sure the body is dwindling away but it is being replaced by something else, all is not lost, it's just a change of perspective. What makes it hard for the body fizzing slowly out is society functioning and adoring only youth and that isolates us cruelly. A dream: a village with only aging women, together, taking care of one another.

@Chronic-Yonic @MzTash Pleasures change too - as the body dwindles you might be more interested in cuddling a cat than dancing all night.Society might adore youth, but now that I am middle-aged I see how silly I was when I was younger, and how all the older women were glad to be beyond all that.Your village would attract younger women too - in smaller communities like rural ones, you get more inter-generational mixing. I know I have really benefitted from that, and I can see girls growing up to respect what their mothers’ and grandmothers’ generations have been through. Maybe you could do a weekly advice-and-laughter party!

@LostInCalifornia Apparently so is learning any new skill. I’ve read that the more proficient one gets in one thing (like e.g. a particular puzzle type), the more the improving effect tapers down. @MzTash I love the fact that I am getting the chance to see history unfold. Even if it is depressing and scary, it's still interesting to live long enough to see these changes and to see what I got right and what I got wrong.Although I enjoyed dating when I was younger and do miss those times somewhat, I enjoy the clarity of seeing how men behave when they are not attracted to me. I also enjoy not having to think about being hit on when I go for a walk, and I enjoy friendships with women who are, like me, past the stage of trying to be attractive to men.

I don’t put up with any entitled male shit and call them out on it.I enjoy watching sport but rarely would watch a whole match or event as I would feel I should be “doing” stuff but now will happily watch all three weeks of Tour de France without a careMy poor Hubby Is a bit of a stay at home for various reasons but has had to get used to the fact that I now book meals/drinks/theatre/opera and even away weekends all the time with my women friends.
