Hackles raised.On yesterday afternoon's dogwalk we met three rough collies. They were in an enclosed garden, and they came rushing towards us, barking loudly. #Gruoch stood tall, tail up, bared her teeth, raised her hackles (piloerection), and stared at them. Just as well there was a fence between us.All my previous dogs had long hair, and I've never seen raised hackles before. It was interesting to see.#dogs #MastoDogs

@fitheach Our last dog didn't like most other dogs and her hackles were regularly raised but she never barked.

@wizardofosmium Gruoch didn't bark either. She hardly ever barks. She does bark when someone, like the postie, comes to the door. A good guard dog.

@Jkp I don't know anything of her history, othar than she was rescued from Romania. She also has a large scar on her tummy. I don't know the origins of the scar..
