Listened to the B.S. meeting today. They voted on the budget, which surprised me, because last year the budget didn't get finalized until September. A lot of money is going to get poured into homelessness, and there'll also be some funding for rent relief. Dean Preston voted against the budget as a way to grandstand about the SFPD still being marginally functioning. A few other supervisors hemmed and hawed and made remarks about how they agreed that the police budget should have been cut more, or that the police budget had already been reduced. Madame Clerk announced in public comment that they wouldn't take any public comment on the budget, but no #defundthepolice people showed up. I guess people have moved on. What's trending these days? In other news, there was also some stuff on further decriminalizing cannabis, and asking the D.A. and the police to investigate retail break-ins. I find it noteworthy that they're so concerned about the mental health of employees at Target. All of the people I know are a lot more concerned about their cars and houses being broken into than stores that can afford the loss. That being said, allegedly, the break-ins are why Target has drastically reduced its hours. The one on Masonic used to be open until midnight, and now is closed by 6 p.m. I thought they were reducing their hours because they got wind of new @covid19 restrictions or something. Anyway, this all tells you what B.S. priorities are. I wonder how the Chesa recalls are going. They seem to have a lot of money. I hear that one of them is paying. There was also some stuff about a Sunset Chinese Cultural district, and a bunch of dead people. I'm out of practice, so I ended up falling asleep for part of the meeting.A lot of the usual crowd during public comment. Peter Warfield had some complaint about meeting minutes. journoanon called in about something. A few Marijuana advocates called in in support of the pro-cannabis legislation. Francisco da Costa and that woman who calls in about housing were also there. Unfortunately, Francisco da Costa did not really have anything amusing to say today. A bunch of people called in asking for B.S. meetings to resume in person. Madame Clerk assured them that they were working on it, and would do it as soon as possible. Gilbert Chriswell was very opposed to this, as, while he has been vaccinated, he is immunocompromised and HIV+, and Muni doesn't run where he lives, and so he wants to be able to comment by phone. Madame Clerk also assured him that they were working on resuming in-person meetings as soon as possible.David Pilpel was also there, and shared his condolences regarding the dead people. He's withdrawn most of his CEQA appeals, because he was able to come to an agreement with the Planning Department.I missed the SOTF meeting, but I think journoanon streams it on Twitch, and also posts notes about them on nitter.net/journoanon, because he wants everyone to be stalked by internet tracking beacons.

@sfbos the retail break-in stuff is surprising though, that it's getting acknowledged and as a problem. I wonder if there was any gnashing of teeth over the horrible fascinazis on the BoS daring to suggest that retail theft is an issue
