@ifixcoinops I don't think it's something you can fix. Not unless you make all the shortcuts use alt+shift+letter or something like that, which would be annoying to everyone. It's really not that bad to press one extra thing each time; I was just disappointed because I thought I found a workaround but hadn't.There are other problems that might need your attention, though. That accessibility petition from a couple years ago is still open (the one mentioning that hunger, nutrition info, Underground Map, etc. aren't accessible). My char, Steffen, bumped it up recently. I need to do that again, to also note down that Hawton Meter color and HP aren't accessible, either.

@Mayana oh petitions right 😅I'll try and knock some of that stuff out today, cheers for the reminderRegarding your nav problem though, would it help to have a hotkey that disables/reenables other hotkeys? Would that shut NVDA up about the navs and let you read the text, then go back to the navs on a press of the hotkey?

@ifixcoinops Yes, petitions. It's almost as if this is the system you yourself set up for players to reach out to you ... :ms_wink: I'm not quite sure what that would mean. Obviously it would help if NVDA had that -- as I said, it does, but only for one "turn". The website having an option to disable hotkeys, or some of tme, wouldn't help in my case.Think of it like this. B is the key you'd press to go south, right? However, when in a browser, screen readers like NVDA and JAWS convert such keys into quick web navigation, to make our lives easier. So b would move you to the next button -- unless the screen reader was told not to care about that for a time.

@ifixcoinops No. Nothing like that. I'm not sure how to explain it better. It's just ...You can press b to go south. When I press b I'll either jump to the Speak button, or be told "no next button". There's no bug. The screen reader is doing exactly what it is *supposed* to do, you know?I can press NVDA+shift+space, or NVDA+f2, to not make it do that for the next key I press. And that works fine. And then that b moves me south just as it should.1/2

@ifixcoinops I was complaining about NVDA not having an option to turn these navigation keys off *until* I wanted to turn them on, for easier quick travel. I was not complaining about the inaccessibility of the game.And mind you, now that I pay more attention, I realize that it probably works better that way. Because after each page load, I have to check if I'm in a battle now. Moving by link twice (past stamina and to the first actually important link) is the fastest way to do that. So really, it was quite a silly wish that I'd likely regret more often than not.Just fix the hunger bar and add a couple landmarks to the site, OK? :ms_smile: 2/2

@ifixcoinops Ah. Well, I can tell you that the hunger bar works. I'm in Central and too lazy to go elsewhere to check if nutrition also does, but hopefully it should.Do you think you could add a couple landmarks to the site? For example, it'd be neat if we could jump straight to the items while travelling, rather than having to go through all the directions first. And while the textual map can be useful, it's quite inconvenient when you're trying to scroll down to read the next bit of the robot conversation.That story, while oddly NSFW at parts, is very wholesome, BTW. Budget Horse, meanwhile ... Christ.

@Mayana Alright I got it - the issue with hunger and amH is that they're kind of supposed to be a bit vague, hence why they were just bars with no accompanying text. I've added a percentage to the bar as alt text for screen readers. Sighted players still get the same experience. Let me know if that works out for you okay.Down Below wise, I might need some input on how to describe the maze and make it actually, y'know, fun. :P

@Mayana I plumbed the percentage readout into the central making-a-bar function, I haven't checked but I believe I used the same function in the restaurants.When you say "Landmarks" I figured you meant more, like, have some stuff like a boulder shaped like a cat on the map to help people find their way :P So you mean more like headings in the nav list and content? Like, an anchor with alt text or something?

You could also do more headings instead, as long as you used the appropriate levels so skipping to the main content would be easy, but landmarks would work better.Also, would it be possible to move the text about items being on that square, the potential story, etc. above the map? The mount text is already there.Being able to just hide the visual map if you can't use it might be nice too, actually. One table less to skip to the end of.

@ifixcoinops Finally remembered to check the restaurants and nope, the nutrition info is still not shown. Only the last percentage, daily energy requirement score, is, and that worked before as well.My hunger bar is at 100 % even though I get told I could still eat a lot more, so I guess it is already quite vague.

@ifixcoinops Hmm, interesting. Perhaps I was wrong about puzzle fighting working only on the first opponent. Once I defeat the first one, it indeed disappears, but if I only attack for 1 round it'll show up again. But in the past I chose to just go for 10 or drops, and then it didn't.

@Mayana The default skin still uses tables for layout, that's how old it is. I wrote that bloody thing under Tony Blair. The new beta skin is all CSS, it's possible one of your browsers is set to the old skin and one's set to the new beta (which is opt-in).
