       Anyone here using #XMPP? I’ve been seeing a lot about it lately (and a lot of roasting of #matrix, mainly in terms of #metadata leakage)Any suggestions to getting into it / suggested instances?

       @jfera I run my own instance using prosody.Uses almost no resources to run and is pretty simple to setup.

       @SplitShockVirus looks easy enough. I had a rough time with a self-hosted, two-user matrix synapse last year, waaay too resource intensive, and quite poor performance wise, especially on big roomsIf I go through and spin up my own, let’s federate!

       @jfera I'm running my own server, I still have to activate some modules but it's perfectly functional for now. my VPS is absolutely tiny and I can't tell it's running Prosody at all. Totally recommended. I tried running a Matrix server (Dendrite) and it was extremely heavy, not good for self-hosting at all
