sorry to go all evopsych pseudoscience on you, but is there literally any benefit to the sort of male sexual behavior that involves violence or even murder toward the woman they're with? how does this possibly square up with the survival of the species...? why do some men describe this urge as so strong, and even assume that all or most other men share it? why is it so widespread in pornography? what purpose does this serve?

@sansa My guess is, males are parasites. Parasites destroy the host. Physically, they are created by women, nurtured by women, need women for domestic labor and procreation. Their existence and survival depend on women. They are physical parasites.Physiologically, realizing that no matter how good they are they will never live up to the godliest power of life-giving that women pose. And being so extremely hierarchical they intuit their sub position and rage hate it, to the point of wanting to destroy us. It's a catch 22 the nicer, more giving, and more caring we are the more they hate us. This goodness and nurturing create greater divide between us and their parasitical mentality of the taker reminding them of their place in the hierarchy of their own making.

@sansa The society that uses the most crazy ass disgusting violent porn is having the fewest babies so actually this is not adaptive at all (late modern advanced capitalist society). So it just sucks on all fronts: moral, evolutionary, all of it. Really gross sexual violence is highly correlated with porn use.Male violence in general is principally directed at other men and the competitive benefits to it are obvious, though more complicated cooperative strategies seem to work even better in reproductive terms.

@sansa it’s probably a combination of factors, but I’ll toss some ideas around: It’s the primary way men know how to bond, maybe? Humans generally tend to bond when they experience trauma together. Maybe men are tying to scare women into staying with them, this makes sure an abused woman won’t have any other men (or women, sadly) near her? Seeing how hard it is for women to escape domestic violence, maybe it works? Maybe it’s an effective short-term strategy to reproduce when human social structures are ruptured. I imagine it wasn’t always like this for us, but the only way we kept male’s violent bonding in check was a strong, functional female network in the community. Which we seem to have lost as we’ve industrialized, rupturing our most functional social structures for the foreseeable future. But I’m just rambling. lol

@sansa Btw, there is evidence that male primates increase their likelihood of mating with a female by harassing her. I don’t think we’re baboons, of course, and I think we can develop more satisfying sexual relationships. But humans are highly malleable/adaptable to their environment and can survive under many conditions. @Yemaya @sansa I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the only way to restrain human males from deprived behavior are strong, functional female networks. When we destroyed those from our culture, we ultimately doomed ourselves to extinction.
