@technomancy these are great!! @jiaming I am imagining a source code file written in the programmer's native language, possibly with a file extension with the language code like .en.lisp, so the compiler can select the right translation of the computer language's keywords and function names. static analysis on the source code can produce boilerplate translation files that need only be filled in with the new (human) language. opening the source code file in an editor would automatically select the correct translation based on the user's localization settings./cc @feonixrift

@theruran @jiaming @feonixrift yeah, it's another one of those ways that sticking with plain text as the one canonical representation of code is holding us back.anyway @nasser has put a lot of thought into this; if you haven't watched https://www.deconstructconf.com/2019/ramsey-nasser-a-personal-computer-for-children-of-all-cultures yet you are in for a treat

@technomancy yeah, in an object-oriented #SchemeOS, program source objects would be S-expressions so the editor could even render mathematical typesetting :tinking: thanks for the link to @nasser 's talk! @jiaming @feonixrift

@theruran @nasser @jiaming @feonixrift yeah I'm working on a structural editor for fennel which could make this kind of remapping doable, but of course as the talk explains, the real problem is the wider ecosystem and getting library authors to buy into the idea of decoupling names from values.https://git.sr.ht/~technomancy/anarres

@technomancy @theruran @nasser @jiaming @feonixrift ooh this is super cool. im envisioning doing something very similar for the proof system pl ive been building (https://github.com/noocene/welkin) so i'll be sure to look over this and see what i can learn from how you've approached it :)
