       i remember once... my mother talked about what her doctor said. she was suffering from... and she paused because she was never a good speaker of big foreign words; "fatigue"in English, "fatigue" just means being exhausted, worn out. if used, with no translation, in Norwegian, it apparently meanssomething like "exhaustion syndrome".you get these things from time to time.in English, pneumonia is a common word. we call it lungebetennelse - lung inflammation. "tenne" meaning to fire up. "be-" being like "en-" or "for-" in English, and "-else" being like "-ment" or "-ness". so you might almost say that pneumonia is called "lung-enlightenment". but i'm quite sure that if you read doctor's journals, it'll say "pneumoni" (pronunciation-wise, pretend it's French and say noo-mon-EE)

       so when you "enlighten" something in Norwegian, you're basically setting it on fire.the word for actually being informed; educated is "opplyst"; "opp" meaning "up" and "lyst" meaning lighted opplysningstid - up-lighting-time = era of enlightenment
