The filibuster is certainly a very significant issue. But it was not the only one. The filibuster issue did give cover to Senators who did not support the bill.Dem voters only heard triumphalist hysteria about what a fine piece of legislation their betters had passed in the House and the usual apocalyptic rage about the 'fate of Democracy'. On our side, this was a good day for Mitch McConnell and the GOP Senators.He kept his troops in line. There were no defectors. The comparison between the leadership of McConnell and Schumer presents a clear contrast. McConnell is a shrewd and intelligent strategist and tactician. He knows what is doing and does it.
