@cooper yeah, I think my next truck will be a pre-smog equipment oldie, maybe a mid-60s ¾-ton or something like that.

@cooper either the heater died in them then... or the tune is really out for some other reason? Oh or they failed, and are the reason it is rich hahaa

@cooper when the check engine light is on the motor runs rich which makes more suit on the exhaust system. Also ruins the cat. When the check engine light is on, there is no feedback to the computer from the oxygen sensor so it intentionally runs rich, according to my mechanic friend.

@cooper I have to replace an O2 sensor in my 2009 Toyota Matrix and a bit skittish about it. But I also haven't looked up how to do it yet. Hopefully it's not so bad.Thanks for the reminder.

@CrashenBurner It's not difficult to do, at all. The hard part can be getting to the sensor to change it. Some vehicles make it nearly impossible. 😔
