tfw when can't do migration because can't update status page because gpg signing required for git commit but gpg key expired yesterday and renewal requires secret certification key but that's stored on an encrypted disk in a drawer on the other side of the house so have to go get it, download live ISO, verify sigs, boot to it, install required software, disconnect network, type long decryption passphrase to unlock the disk, mount, import all required keys, renew subkeys, export public subkeys to unencrypted partition on a new disk, copy secret certification key to encrypted partition on new disk with new passphrase, reboot to OS, import new pubkeys, upload to keyservers, put flash drive back in drawer, update status page, and proceed with migr—wait it's past midnight. i have to go to sleep so i can go hiking tomorrow with friend like we've been planning for two weeksFUCK :blobcattableflip: at least key's renewed :comfy:

@olivia Maintaining good security practises with GPG keys can be a huge headache :meowLul: https://github.com/drduh/YubiKey-Guide#rotating-keys

@amolith I recently experienced my mail no longer being encrypted when stored on my mail server. After much debugging I found out the key had expired. This was just my personal key for mail, so I simply changed the expiration date :P

tfw when you literally spend almost an hour digging through folders pouring over sheets of paper looking for anything that might be the passphrase to your secret certification key because it's been a whole year since you've used it because the yubikey uses PINs and you didn't *need* to remember it but now what you have on the paper in front of you doesn't seem to be working so you keep digging and racking your brain to figure it out but maybe you just mistyped it the firs—you mistyped it the first four times, wasted an hour, and your room is now a mess of papers and foldersat least the keys can be renewed :comfy:
