Years ago I used a small script which send me a XMPP message every time I received a new mail. Unfortunately I can't find it anymore. Now I'm looking for something more sophisticated. I would like to have a small #XMPP or #Matrix bot which monitors my mailbox and send me a message when I receive a mail from a specific account, to a specific account, with a specific keyword in the subject or body etc. These conditions should be easily changeable because they will not stay the same. Any ideas?

@bjoern @bjoern it would be nice to have a "Send XMPP message" action in managesieve... that way you could use the Sieve filters and only send XMPP messages for those mails you want to get notified about... When you find a solution, please share :)

@ijIndeed, could be useful to script something. I also found this RFC meanwhile https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5437 but I think it was never finished/implemented, at least I couldn't find anything.

@ijAgreed that #Sieve integration would be the way to go in this case. It would be a matter of finding an email provider that supports #RFC5437 though.@bjoern

@0 @bjoern - uhm, well: https://pigeonhole.dovecot.org/"enotify (RFC 5435): fully supported (v0.1.3+). mailto method (RFC 5436): fully supported (v0.1.3+). xmpp method (RFC 5437): is under development and will become available as a plugin."Maybe asking the devs about the status of that plugin?

@0 @bjoern Ok, so https://doc.dovecot.org/settings/pigeonhole-ext/ lists no XMPP plugin, but for now https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/sieve/plugins/extprograms/#pigeonhole-plugin-extprograms should do the trick for now, I guess. Nonetheless, a dedicated XMPP plugin would be better, of course...

@ij @0 cool, danke für die Links... Ich werde es mir am Wochenende mal genauer anschauen. Sieht aber vielversprechend aus. 🙂
