       I left Sweden a decade and a half ago, but recently I have set my phone to the Swedish language. Why? Well why not? It feels comfortable somehow to see some of my native language when I use the phone.As a side effect, Newpipe will now be showing me the popular videos in Swedish. And wow... What the hell is going to on with my home country?If these recommendations are to be trusted, Swedish youtube culture is absolutely terrible. With "influencers" posting vacuous videos with no content other that literally what they had for lunch, with the comments of the vomit inducing type such as "fan vad härliga ni är". Just typing that made me feel a bit sick.Not to be mention the comedic content which are on the level of a 3 year old.I mean, it makes Singapore's youtubers, which have been accused of being infantile and formulaic, seem like high art in comparison.Is it just because I've been away from Sweden for so long that I find this to be embarrassingly bad to the point that I cannot even watch it at all? Or is it really that horrible?I know there are some Swedish speakers that follow me, please let me know whether I'm right?

       @loke Well, that's the reason I avoid using the swedish version of youtube, because it is just so 🤢 But I think, that's something that exist everywhere but since google now has gotten what I like - it does not recommend anything other than shit that I like to me lol

       @selea @loke yeah, I would tend to say that too.Not swedish but when I access YouTube with a Google account I dont use often, the French recommendations I see are really bad, with content similar to what you describe. It's not the case when I use my regular account.Maybe using Swedish as language messed up Google recommendations system, and, within a few weeks you will get interesting content ?

       @clovis @selea There are no recommendations here. I'm using Newpipe, which is anonymous. So it displays the trending videos in the language I have chosen.Before I switched to Swedish, I got English language videos, and although they also were terrible, they were nothing like the absolute cesspool I see in Swedish.I think this gives me an insight into what Swedish people are watching, and it's concerning. I mean, Swedish people have always watched garbage, but this is on a different level (or maybe not, I did grow up with Clownen manne)
