       so i recently saw a comment that included this:"no one should make porn until they are completely positive and fully capable of understanding what they want so that they won't regret it and hate themselves for it"this is the problem with the language of consent: it doesn't actually mean anything. no one in this world is ever completely positive or fully capable of understanding what they want––we're all too chaotic and unfathomable for that. but then you have this term "consent" which comes from a legal context attempting to cover all this ground. and you can't just say "consent" anymore, you have to have all these qualifiers like "informed" and "enthusiastic" and "freely given" and it's like ?? well does "consent" even mean then if it's not those things already?instead of trying to squeeze untamed human passion into a legalistic framework, why don't we talk about desire, pain, and pleasure instead?
