@xerz You'll need to learn how to make Sieve rules if you want filtering. As a result, I have not used filtering and resorted to manually doing it.Pricing is cheap. The admin dashboard is alright. Support team is good. They're working on a new open source webmail client which I think is cool. You can use any standard email client.Easy to switch away since they push you to get your own domain which I think is cool.I really wish they supported JMAP but I doubt most care.

@lionirdeadman wait, can’t Rainloop manage filters easily with ManageSieve?

OK the experience is overall really good, plentiful of features and standards support (DKIM+ARC, SPF and DMARC right away!!!), and even educational! The webmail UI is Rainloop, which is great because it’s clean and supports 2FA, CardDAV syncing and locally stored OpenPGP.As downsides, the UI is confusing when you want to start using it, a bit even for experienced people (you need to create a mailbox, and then go to https://mailbox.migadu.com for the web inbox) and you miss email aliases under a global domain — which is something I thought everyone did?also, they want people to use plaintext and link to Drew DeVault’s website lol

@xerz Is Rainloop connected to ManageSieve? If so, I did not know.

I don’t want to buy a second mail domain just so someone at the IRS doesn’t get confused with the domain lmao

I’m gonna be honest: I don’t win much over my current hosting, Runbox. I have all the fancy mail stuff there, and aliases. The only real differences I can tell are:Plans (Runbox still has pointless domains/inboxes/storage limits, and their default prices are a LOT higher… but there’s still workarounds, and in the end I can pay the same 15€/year for a decent plan)Hosting country (Runbox is in Norway while Migadu is in Switzerland — but then again who knows if Migadu, which started as an US company, is owned by the CIA)

(if you’re wondering if I’m being paranoid: nah, they both seem to be supertransparent on what they do, how, and what implies using their services, including giving reasons as to why data can stay private)

also: just found out Runbox is implementing Jitsi, so that’s tempting

@tromino on yeah, it’s in development and now officially a Migadu project, but Rainloop works right now
