I just watched Metal Outlaw make his case for why GPL is the best open source license: https://open.lbry.com/@AlphaNerd:8/why-i-recommend-the-gpl-license.:c?r=DAuGj8XTGSsu5hpE6vS9pT4u8uML5T8nI'm still not convinced. I think that a more permissive license does give more freedom and I'm liking what I see from the #bsd folks.

That said, I completely respect GPL and #GNU and really like the concept behind GNU #Guix and many other GNU projects. I'm just not seeing the problem with more permissive licenses like the #bsd or #mit. I like the concept of public domain. Do whatever you'd like with the code and I don't have to worry about trying to enforce compliance legally. Please weigh in with your thoughts on this. What do you think?

@retroedgetech I'm not against someone making a buck off my work. Most of the time when we are posting answers to people's questions, or even posting code, regardless of the license, people are copying and profiting. I don't think a Copyleft license is necessary to inspire people to be generous with their talents.
