There's an irritating part of my mind that wants to make a #PeerTube video sharing my thoughts on the FSF thing. But I don't know if there's much left to be said, and I know - no matter what I say - some people will be left unhappy because it's such a charged topic. At the end of the day, I don't think nuance on the subject is appreciated and it'll only end up causing me grief.

@ChrisWere I think it's a good call. There are two small groups of very angry people, and unless you agree exactly with their point of view they're going to hurl poop at you.

@ChrisWere Nuance is not appreciated, nor any perspective that deviates from what people have already decided on. Even those who are generally open to free speech seem unable to even tolerate any discussion.

@ChrisWere Some people wanted to divide the GNU & Linux community and they partially succeeded. The attack was not so successful in Linux community but succeeded more in the FSF side of things. Both community were like this for ages and yet, we hear complaints just recently. Moreover, the people who attacks FSF are not from #freesw community but mainly from nonfree / open source camp.

@ChrisWereI, for one, don't understand why it's such a charged subject. Seems like there's lots of open-source-y organisations to choose from. FSF went one direction, lots of other organizations went another. Seems like this will sort itself out given some time. Or am I missing something?

@ChrisWere Accurate. However, I'd like to disagree with you ๐Ÿ˜. Make it private/only for followers. Can that be done?

@ChrisWere you could do a private video just for yourself though!

@ChrisWere if you made a video where you calmly explain _your_ thoughts on the matter and how the development has made _you_ feel and perhaps how _you_ think it might affect others, that would actually be quite refreshing ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘ŒThe problem so far seems to be, in my humble perception, that too many people are trying to bully others into agreeing with their own personal opinion on the matter. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone else should respect that ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™

@ChrisWere I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I've tried having a dialogue with others, but so far haven't even gotten past posting initial questions without being met with either silence or instant bans.To me it's important to talk about precisely because the handling of the issue is so incredibly polarised and any discussion or even request for insight is met with hostility, which - to me - is an incredibly dangerous precedent to set in any science related community.

@ChrisWere Post it on PeerTube and youโ€™ll be fine. As long as you donโ€™t post it on YouTube, because thatโ€™s become a biohazard.
