It just struck me how fitting it is that Antifa colors are a combination of the Black Shirts and the Red Guard.Now I'm kinda curious how intentional that was.

@AlbionLK where were they in the 19th century? Sources I've found mark their creation in the 1930s, which is squarely in the 20th century, and as a pretty explicit reaction to the rise in violent fascism (namely the black and brown shirts) where their creation could be seen as fighting fire with fire. Admittedly though, on closer inspection the Red Guard bit seems to be reversed, with them taking after Antifa and not the other way around.

@FilthyDegenerate Antifa was founded in the 20th century, their ideology is older than that. they have predecessors from which they inherited certain symbols (like the color scheme).i believe the black flag flew at the Paris Commune in the 1870s, or at sometime in the aftermath. din’t quote me on that, though
