Arguably organizations have various ideals, such as not taking on anyone too risky to be on the board of directors. It doesn't matter if the accusations are true or not, the principle of free association (which, yes, is more important than free software, I think) means that you don't want those kind of people on your board. The controversy itself is a failure for a leader character, who is supposed to be uncontroversial. Compare Reddit with that admin they fired today because she was pedo-adjacent.And it does make them win; I wouldn't be surprised if Stallman is forced out in very short order. As to whether that's good or not is left as an exercise for the reader.

@hfaust @Moon We know how bad it is. Mozilla have taken a stance against freedom and open Internet already, the aligned with the reactionary forces before attacking RMS. In fact it started back when they ejected Eich for taking the same position as Barack Obama.
