Okay, I began talking to my friend about the trans epidemic among kids and she says if any of her kids said they are trans she will give them hormones asap because of the high suicide rate among trans kids. I said that a lie and it isn’t true. So she said she is a researcher and has done graduate work in information and she is not wrong and laughed at me and said it will be a miracle if I can find studies that refute the studies she has found of high suicide rate among trans kids. Please help.

@Ismat The UN put together a survey of all the surveys claiming trans suicide was high a couple of years ago. They concluded that the suicide rate was high but that the population was too small to data test it and prove it.

@Ismat I'd also like to add that there's a very high rate of suicide among girls with anorexia (a couple of sources below). If a young woman with anorexia says "I want to kill myself because I'm so fat I don't deserve to live," how do we respond? Do we help her chase an impossible ideal (just as trans people can never actually become the opposite sex, afaik there's no point at which someone with anorexia will actually consider themselves thin enough)? I know of 1 trans child suicide. Which I am willing to attribute to them being groomed by adults to think they are a trans person. Which resulted in their suicide. I am aware of quite a number of suicides related to being homosexual of both sexes. The most recent was only last year where a lesbian I knew committed suicide due to bullying and family problems associated with her homosexuality.Does no one stop to realise there are now possibly 100's of thousands of detransitioners.People who have wrecked their bodies. Life changing mutilations which they deeply regret and our still dealing with psychological incongruences. They arn't commiting suicide at any noticeable rate.Suicide isn't that easy. Taking the step to commit suicide is a very serious and deep step in reality.It is however very easy to gaslight and manipulate people with suicide threats.The woman is lying by the way. There are no deep researched investigations into trans kids suicide.Suicidality exists in all psychiatric populations. It exists no more frequently in the trans population than any other.Veterans of war commit suicide far more frequently.@Ismat
