I'm sorry but I am so sick of the power that make up has on women. Im sick of the defensiveness, the shaming, and the attempt at conversion towards women who don't wear makeup. Just stop slathering chemicals on your face and maybe you won't have to take your anger out on me and other women anymore 🙄 really ridiculous

@juneseed I haven't seen the argument you're referencing because I'm already blocked by half of spinster but I feel you. Even the "it doesn't harm anybody" argument implies that it should be fine for you to wear it too. Well I don't want to. How can you NOT be angry when your real appearance is considered shameful? How can you claim that you fight for female freedom yet see no problem with performing a ritual that has absolutely no uses but to show men that you respect and acknowledge their power? They also constantly complain abou women not being "natural" and insist that women force makeup upon themselves and nobody actually needs it. Some gratitude they get

So they decided to use their funds to help them cope, and educate SWERFs about how harmful the stigma is. Instead, of you know, figuring out how to get them through college without selling their bodies.

@Rayan I did once have a woman asking me why I did not shave my moustache or my chin hair. I did not know her very well. She just turned around and started touching my face.I told her I was trying to grow a handlebar moustache, so that I can stroke it and cackle. She did not talk to me much after that.

@Justwanttobreathe First I love that you're outspoken even when it's "controversial" haha and I always felt like I was some freak because I CANNOT "respect" a woman's decision to submit herself to the beauty industry. I just cannot bring myself to accept it. It's like they live in a totally different world than I do, I can't imagine doing that to myself, and I've done plenty of things to escape that (transitioning) that other women wouldn't be able to understand either. But thats the two options you get now. You submit, or you try to run away and ruin your body to attempt to gain freedom. Cutting off your leg (or breasts) to escape the shackle. I think I'm having some sort of psychotic break right now but I am just so angry, I'm really really upset about this for some reason. I've been sitting in my bed crying about this for a long time now 😂

@juneseed I have never worn makeup but I guess I lucked out by having a face that looks somewhat made-up just by itself, ie dark eyelashes and defined brows, so there wasn't a lot of backlash. I was only forced to wear makeup by my drama teacher because for some reason girl's faces become invisible on stage. You're totally right being angry, marking yourself as a lower sex cast isn't a non-issue and if you respect someone you don't want them to do it. When you're told to respect this humiliation what it really means is "don't tell uncomfortable facts"

@Justwanttobreathe @juneseed It is not always the case though. Perfecting the use of makeup and how certain cosmetics agree or disagree with one's complexion, and the technique of producing certain "looks" can be somewhat artistic, and requires skill. Some women derive gratification from that, with the added benefit of appearing as they'd like to appear. I personally believe that it feeds to sexist beauty standards, as I've never seen a man prep himself for hours to appear aesthetically decent for his female partner–but if she truly does it for herself in order to boost her self esteem (perhaps she deems herself inferior to natural beauties), I don't see any harm in it. I have always thought that makeup is a form of deception to myself (I don't care for others) and that I can not tolerate.

@Rayan @juneseed for some reason the way they'd like to appear matches the current beauty standards perfectly every time. It's not what they want, it's what men want, and it's men who train those who don't look like this to feel bad about themselves. By caving in you agree that people like you deserve humiliation, that your body primary exists not for you to live in but for others to look at. There's nothing natural in feeling bad about your appearance. The source of insecurities is not the appearance, it's patriarchy.
