4 keyboards, no consistent Fn/Ctrl/Super/Alt keys layout. Yeah I know you can remap them, but is it too much to ask if I want to switch keyboards around without worrying about which layout they have and whether this particular one had been configured on that particular device? 🙄Solution: buy YAK (yet another keyboard)? 😆https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product.amp/36619/dsgxq

@cybette Solution is to get one keyboard and stick to it. :)I got an Ultimate Hacking Keyboard and beside the silly name, it's so good that I have no reason to use anything else. Of course I'm not nearly as mobile as you seem to be, but if I was I'd still carry it with me. I did get another for the office so I didn't have to carry it _every_ day (which is really useful now with COVID :D).

@nicd yeap that's true. although the reason I ended up with so many keyboards is buying them for different use cases throughout the past decade (I think the middle two are around 10 years old). and my needs have changed even over the past year. maybe the thinkpad USB keyboard could be the one keyboard to rule them all (for now)? 😄

@cybette If it works for you! I kind of had to go to a split keyboard to save my wrists and fingers. Now typing with a laptop is odd, and it hurts my neck as the screen is too low. I still do it but only in small amounts. In fact I've found that a split keyboard is very handy in my favourite home programming spot, the couch. :D I can sit quite comfortably and place the parts on my legs or the couch headrest, while my laptop is on a small table on the proper height so I don't have to look down.

@cybette I have the logitech one, it it feels more annoying in general.I think either keys spaced out really weird or their size is different.

@cybette I also struggle with this. It's made even worse that the same buttons do different things on Linux, MacOS and Windows.

@nicd yeah I remember checking out the UHK when shopping for mech keyboards.I still type more on my laptops than any of the external keyboards, but maybe also because I haven't found a good external one yet. however I don't think I'll get used to a split keyboard (or even if I want to) because I move around a lot even in my small apartment to be able to work on my desk/my partner's desk/couch/dining table/bed etc. So I would mostly default to the laptop keyboard.I can't sit still :D

@avolkov yeah I think the keys are misaligned just enough to be a bother.also I prefer the arrow keys to be separated out.I do like the built-in trackpad though.

Even though I was already working from home before the pandemic, I was also traveling 40-50% of the time, and had the freedom to work from cafes whenever I wanted. So my home office was quite sparse. Quite a change over the past year...Pic from July 2018 just after I built a new work desk.

@cybette Is it dual head, or mirrored. I have something similar but dual head, and I told the OS that the larger screen was on top. Logical switching from one monitor to the other.

@richardazia usually mirrored, although I switch to dual on occasion.I switch between virtual desktops when I need more space (muscle memory, as I have specific apps in specific desktops).

@cybette I have often had dual head setups so i just setup a dual head for myself. Good for coding tutorials. You see the code clearly, compared to when you use a small laptop screen.

@cybette Yes, it is. I'm not a big Nintendo fan (have only owned an original Game & Watch, no consoles) I bought it on sale, just because it looks cool sitting on the desk. A bit sad it can't actually be used as a watch like the old ones.

@gauteweb I've played quite a few Game & Watch games as a kid (I had one, and would exchange them with my friends who had different games) so it has nostalgic value. I debated getting one but I'm not a big fan of Super Mario 😅 I don't dislike it, I just don't find it as appealing as other games. That said, it looks cool and is definitely a conversation piece 😄

@cybette I'm dreaming of a Game & Watch with Metroid, basically the only (S)NES game I've ever really liked.
