Every now and then, you find a pearl in the youtube comments:"The TERFs have a point. The proposition that a woman is a woman because she identifies as a woman is circular reasoning. Transgender people will have difficulty finding tolerance or acceptance as long as they insist that anyone who refuses to affirm a logical fallacy is a bigot. In order to identify as something, one must define it first. In order to have the "internal sense" that one is a woman, one must first define what it means to be a woman because a person can't identify as something they haven't defined. If men and women aren't differentiated by the genetic and anatomical characteristics of their bodies, then what differentiating criteria remains that isn't reliant on sexist gender stereotypes concerning gender expression and gender roles that feminists have been fighting against for decades? Transgender ideology leads to the inescapably sexist conclusion that womanhood is determined by the extent to which a person internalizes and identifies with feminine stereotypes. That's the only conclusion you can draw. If a woman isn't a woman because of the genetic and anatomical characteristics of her body, then the only alternative is that she's a woman because she internalizes and identifies with socially constructed stereotypes that dictate how women should behave, how they should look, and what role they should play in society. Trans women don't identify as women because they were born with female body parts instead of male body parts. Because of that fact, a trans woman's gender identity must be based on an alternative set of criteria -- and the only other criteria that remains is gender stereotypes. I would ask anyone who denies that the following: If a person's gender identity isn't determined by the objective genetic and anatomical characteristics of their body, and if it's not determined by subjective internalization and identification with a set of socially constructed stereotypes that feminists have long argued are harmful to women, then what is it based on? What criteria does a person have to meet in order to identify as a man, a woman, or some other non-binary gender? If a men and women can have identical genetic and anatomical characteristics, identical gender expression, and identical gender roles -- then what characteristics do they have that differentiates one from the other? How can anyone ever be "misgendered" if there is no objective difference between a "he", a "she", and a "xe"? In fact, what sense is there in being transgender at all if there's no objective difference between men, women, and non-binary people? If anyone can identify as any gender for any reason, then gender itself is a meaningless distinction."

@MaceDindu Transgenderism is nothing but a fad, a fashion statement. Not too long ago, a man would be ashamed and embarrassed to walk about in public wearing lipstick and a dress. Now it's fashionable and many so-called "transgenders" are doing it out of a desire to be "edgy" and to follow the latest trends. There is also a subset of deviants which uses cross dressing as a means to gain access to their sexual targets. For example, to get into women's washrooms to harass them or peep at them as they use the toilets, or to gain access to children. In Canada we have a real sicko named Jessica/Jonathan Yaniv, he's a typical example of a deviant transsexual. It's interesting to note that there are far fewer transgendered females than males. This is because women shaving their heads and dressing up in male attire don't garner attention the way a man in a dress and lipstick does. Not to mention the fact that lesbians adopted this form of dress many years ago so there's nothing "edgy" about it.Even before the transgender fad began, there were men who were either hetero but turned on by cross dressing or homosexual male drag queens. Now the fad has made it socially acceptable for any man to throw on a dress and a wig and claim to be transgendered. There are also the attention seekers who dress their kids up as their opposite gender to show how edgy and fashionable they are by turning their own children into status symbols. The worst part is that some of these sicko parents are subjecting their children to gender reassignment surgery. Once upon a time it was impossible to get access to gender reassignment surgery unless the patient went though years of assessment and therapy to determine if they suffered from true gender dysphoria - a condition which is extremely rare, unlike fake trannies.Once this fad comes to an end, it will leave a lot of psychiatrically and physically devastated women and children in its wake.

@Creepella >It's interesting to note that there are far fewer transgendered females than males. Not anymore. There's a full-on epidemic of young girls claiming to be boys. Women are more suggestible than men, and thus this gab has hit teen girls hard.

@MaceDindu Hmm that's too bad. They seem a lot less visible or militant than the males. I don't see too many news stories about a transgender female to male ranting at a coffee shop cashier for misgendering them. But that doesn't mean they don't. But I'm guessing they don't harass men in men's locker rooms or washrooms as some of the "male to female" trans do to women.

@Creepella Yes, women aren't as aggressive as men, and girls seem to be more motivated by the fad, whereas boys tend to be creepy perverts that see it as a means of exercising control.

@MaceDindu It's ironic that male to female and female to male transgenders are so different because it affirms the differences between the female and male genders. Otherwise all transgenders would have the same traits.

@MaceDindu This is the kind of thinking brought about by the transtrenders making wild claims about gender and gender dysphoria.

@lizzymoda it basically illustrates that "gender" is a meaningless term, and to the extent any of these people are suffering from dysphoria, it's body dysphoria.

@MaceDindu The woes "gender" is certainly becoming meaningless. It started with the separation in usage from "sex." Body dysmorphic disorder and gender dysphoria are related and they are mental illnesses. In my opinion, it's an irregularity in the "brain map" of the body. A person with BDD may not have an incomplete map and have a strong desire to amputate a limb they feel "doesn't belong." A person with GD may have a map of the opposite sex, with similar symptoms.

@MaceDindu Treatment options are either to bring the mind into harmony with the body or vice versa.

@MaceDindu People with GD also have psychological differences in the brain. GD is different from BDD, but it's not well understood. After years of failure with GD patients trying to change the mind to match the body, the medical community looked into changing the body.
