Is it me, or is Element @matrix still unusable for normal people? The app asks me to verify with only one option: "Overslaan" (English: "Skip")

@djoerd @matrix I don’t know if I’m “normal people” but I found it really straight forward to get going. I also have been quite impressed (and surprised) at how useful Element/Matrix has been in following various topics I’m interested in.

@djoerd @matrix I haven’t been on Matrix (with Element) for more than 2-3 weeks, but when I signed up I did so in my web browser on my iPad, and then I downloaded the app on my iPhone where I put in the information I just had created on my iPad. That was kind of it. After that it has just worked.I don’t actually know anyone who has Matrix so haven’t been able to test direct communication with someone (I am mainly interested as I have been comparing various tools/protocols) with e2ee but I have been able to subscribe to, and participate in, topic related messages in “open” rooms.Can’t recall that dialogue box though, sorry.

@mathias @matrix I like @delta chat is an alternative: it uses email, and it allows you to backup you conversations with encryption keys and import it somewhere else (maybe also not that user-friendly, but at least it works)

@djoerd ik help met de vertaling van deze pagina. Er staat dat je een andere ingelogd sessie moet openen om te bevestigen dat jij het bent. Hoe zouden we dit anders kunnen vertalen of ux anders kunnen doen?

@djoerd het is opzich wel herkenbaar hoor. Dit kan beter uitgelegd worden. Je moet ze naast elkaar open hebben voor de cross-signing. Heb je ze nog beide open staan? Volgens mij kan je je sessie ook met je herstelwachtwoordzin of herstelsleutel verifiëren. Cross-signing zou makkelijker moeten zijn 😅

Je kan toch op Element Web / Element Desktop of Element iOS / Element Android klikken? Overslaan is alleen rood dus valt op .. design technisch is element.io niet echt goed :)
