I'm in a writing retreat this week/weekend and I got a chapter hammered out to a point where I asked my kid to read it. She called it "unique, gross, and compelling."I love that she gets me. I'm not talking about it at the retreat except in broadest terms because it's lesbian separatist alt history (aka the men are mostly dead). There's pronouns ahoy on people's zoom handles.I've been thinking about what a stop sign pronouns are. It's supposed to look like inclusivity but it really looks like fingers in ears from where I'm sitting.I love that the lady who's running it does not use pronouns. I took a workshop with her a couple of months ago and she used Harry Potter as an example. She seems really sane.

@Gelatinousrube that's so good the leader doesn't use pronouns. I too find them a major hinderance because I know straightaway the audience isn't going to be receptive to my lesbian centered fiction- while my novel isn't alt history, I intentionally keep men at the periphery- even when their horrible actions affect my main characters. Everything I do is like that- men exist, but only vaguely, as a hazy idea best not thought on for very long. Totally agree pronouns are actually devisive. Okay, if a transperson is very insistent we gender them correctly- I won't use those pronouns, but if they want to put them out there, fine. But biological men & women who clearly reflect such is so fucking stupid. Like, Jimbo, we all see your adam's apple. We know you are man. I don't care what you like to be "called"- save that shit for the bedroom, bro.

The over 40s aren't doing it if course.

@Gelatinousrube that's how I live my life too! I haven't had an actual conversation with a man in IRL in gosh, it's been months. Not in 2021 for sure, I'd probably guess it was before Covid! The only words I've exchanged with men were my grocery delivery guys.White men are obsessed with the pronoun game. I have theories about this.

@MountainSlideMama @Gelatinousrube #I don't like to bring men's skin colour into it. Men are men the world over. If more white men are into trans than any others, it will be because of the specific constellation of women's rights in countries with a large number of people of that skin colour. What I mean is: the Trans ideology has emerged in countries at the exact time in which women have been granted equal legal rights. No coincidence. In countries in which women have equal legal rights, trans is being used as a great way to undermine women despite those rights. It is a backlash. It sneakily removes our hard fought for sex-based rights (which many men are very resentful about) whilst pretending not to. In countries where women have fewer legal rights and freedoms, there is not the same need or desire to adopt the bogus concept of trans because a) they've still got women nicely under the boot and b) no male wants to identify as somebody who instantly has to give up a ton of legal rights and freedoms. So trans will not flourish in such cultures. I propose that skin colour is an indirect measure of this, nothing more. Trans arises directly from women being granted rights.

@Magnesium @Gelatinousrube I suppose I brought white into it because where I live, they are the ones predominately embracing this crap. I cannot speak to other countries because I don't live there. It's not my experience, so I don't feel it's my place. Here, however, in the United States, white men are notorious for their behavior regarding trans crap.

People are too lazy to read it. To put the words into context. They would rather not believe me, treat me like I'm that chicken who cried the sky is falling.

The Repeal the GRA movement is brilliant because it addresses the whole true trans thing by attacking it at source There is no true trans, it's total crap! There are fetishists, perverts and abusers jumping on a bandwagon, plus self-harming kids who need rescuing. A few politicians spoke up at the time about legally embracing a lie but were obviously outvoted. But the fetish aspect of trans has always been deliberately obscured I think. Still is!
